Take a Moooment: 4 Self-Care Tips for the Holidays
Is it time for a reset?
As we all well know, the holidays can get a bit hairy (furry?). So it’s important to take a moment (before the year-end fun ramps up) to remember that we, too, deserve some self-care during the holidays.
And for those like our collective barnyard, computer work comes with its own special kind of stress. There’s a lot of hunching over keyboards, herding emails, and wrangling calendars.
Regardless of how you spend your time, even the tiniest reset—a stretch, a wander, or a deep breath—can make a world of difference on the mind and body.
To help with those tiny resets, we’ve put together a short list of some of our favorite self-care tips featured in Mad Cow’s monthly moosletter “The Moos News” over the last few years.
Four self-care tips we 🧡
- 30-second breathing exercise – Sometimes, all you need to do is breathe. (Helpful graphic included.)
- 60-second stress management exercise – This is a great exercise by life coach Shanna Pranaitis using any small object you can hold in your hand.
- Permission to wander – There are sooooo many benefits from letting your mind wander, including improved mental health.
- Anxiety toolkit – Pin this collection of free, calming exercises that don’t require special gear. And they’re all open-source!
Take care during the holidays
So as the holiday chaos starts to mooove in, don’t forget to take a moment for yourself. Enjoy a deep breath, a quiet wander, or something else—and perhaps it’ll help you weather the holidays and welcome in the New Year feeling a bit more rested and grounded.
