Are you using “microdata”? Coming from the “You learn something new everyday” category, no longer is meta-data the “be-all/end-all” for your SEO code rangers. While most of us are at least familiar with meta tags and their usage, a normal HTML tag doesn’t give the search engines any data related to what an actual text string means.
For example, “Avatar” could refer to a movie, or it could refer to a type of profile picture. This makes it difficult for search engines to know what we are writing about and in turn, a challenge to give that text any “credit” or SEO “value”.
Microdata is a shared vocabulary that allows us to mark up our pages in a way that makes them more descriptive for the major search engines: Google, Microsoft, Yandex and Yahoo! Take a few minutes to learn about Microdata and set your SEO person to task. You will be amazed at the results. You can get lots of info right here
